Neighborhood Bike Works teaches basic bike mechanics and cycling skills to youth, and provides job training critical to landing future work and educational opportunities. They engage disadvantaged youth, teach them new skills, and provide a low-cost form of transportation so they can connect with jobs, greenspaces, and beyond. Impact100’s grant funded the Freedom to Ride Project, a neighborhood-based bike outreach program designed to saturate West and Southwest Philadelphia with opportunities that encourage low income and minority groups to become cyclists and utilize existing greenways. Impact100 funding also supported the relocation of Neighborhood Bike Works’ facilities into a West Philadelphia hub.
