Since 2012 “Giving Tuesday” has become an important part of the American philanthropic calendar. Impact100 Philadelphia was proud to participate in this new tradition on November 27 this year with speakers from 2017 grant recipient Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) and another popular local charity, Cradles to Crayons. Denise Mahal, Director of Development for CVIM, inaugurated Impact100 Philadelphia into their Pillar Society and presented our Co-Presidents, Madge Rothenberg and Carolyn Ashburn, with a commemorative crystal symbolizing our collective contribution. Denise told members and guests about CVIM’s efforts to ensure the health of all Chester County residents. CVIM provides free medical and dental care for over 3000 men, women and children, and partners with many of the finest doctors, nurses and institutions throughout the region. Their most recent initiatives include non-opioid pain management, behavioral health programs and expanded dental care for seniors. CVIM is a safety net for our uninsured friends and neighbors: those who do not qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford private insurance. Day care employees, hair stylists, landscapers, and restaurant workers are all treated with skill, courtesy and professionalism at the West Chester clinic and satellite senior centers. CVIM is always in need of personnel and supplies, particularly during the winter months. Please click HERE to learn about how you can contribute.
Cradles to Crayons Executive Director Michal Smith defined clothing insecurity in a new way for many of us. She explained that attendance in school is compromised every day because children literally have nothing to wear. Financially secure families can allow children to pick out school outfits, appropriate clothing, and essential supplies without struggle. Cradles to Crayons gives children throughout our region the same type of opportunity to succeed. No child should have to miss school for lack of clean clothes, shoes, or a warm coat. Impact100 Philadelphia members enjoyed several volunteer days with Cradles to Crayons in 2018. We loved sorting and organizing contributions collected in their Conshohocken facility. We have committed to partnering with Cradles to Crayons for more hands-on volunteering in the upcoming year. Click HERE to learn about how you can help.
Impact100 Philadelphia is committed to more than delivering grants to local nonprofits. Our members want to learn about issues in our community and seek to participate in hands on activities to solve problems. Our Giving Tuesday traditions include opening our wallets, hearts, and minds to all of the ways we can make a difference together.
