HIAS Pennsylvania was founded in 1881 to provide integration services to Jewish immigrants fleeing persecution who sought safety and opportunity in the United States. Their mission statement reads “Driven by the Jewish value of welcoming the stranger, HIAS PA now provides legal, resettlement, citizenship and supportive services to immigrants and refugees from all backgrounds in order to assure their fair treatment and full integration into American society. HIAS PA advocates for just and inclusive public policies and practices.
